Entry Denied is a documentary about the immigration struggles faced by gay and lesbian Americans in relationships with foreign citizens. Under the current US Immigration Law, an American citizen can sponsor his or her spouse or qualifying family member for immigration benefits. Because of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which defines marriage as between a man and a woman, even same-sex couples who have been legally married in U.S. states or foreign countries are not able to immigrate based on their marriage. Americans in bi-national relationships are faced with the dilemma of having their relationship torn apart, or to exile to another country where they may or may not be able to live legally together. Entry Denied follows the stories of three couples struggling with this dilemma.
